The World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS ) is the international, pluralistic, non-partisan umbrella organisation of 48 national independent Jewish Student Unions from all over the world. Founded in 1924 by Hersch Lauterpacht with Albert Einstein as its first President. Other previous Presidents have included Maurice Perlzweig, Yosef Abramowitz and David Makovsky and past Vice-Presidents have included Chaim Weizman, Chaim Nachman Bialik and Sigmund Freud. The aim of The World Union of Jewish Students is to "foster the unity of Jewish students worldwide and to strive to ensure their participation in the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Jewish people, its continuity, and the development of its religious, spiritual, cultural and social heritage."〔WUJS http://www.wujs.org.il/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=140〕 The headquarters of WUJS are located in Jerusalem, Israel and its current Chairperson is Andi Gergely, the former chairperson of European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS). ==Vision== The vision of WUJS is a global, representative, cross-communal and peer-led movement of Jewish students that delivers powerful campaigns that defend Jewish students’ interests; creates diverse and dynamic programming that enriches Jewish life on campus; leads inspiring international events; and develops safe, vibrant spaces for Jewish student activities all over the world.
